Apostille

The apostille itself is a stamp or printed form consisting of ten numbered standard fields. According to the Hague Convention of 5 October 1961, an apostille affixed to a document intended for use in a country which is a signatory party to this Convention is sufficient for this document to be recognizable by that country’s legal system. The apostille may be affixed to a document itself or to a separate sheet duly affixed to this document. It has square shape with the sides at least 9 cm. In Ukraine, documents may be apostilled by

  • the Ministry of Justice;
  • the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
  • the Ministry of Education.

If your document has been issued abroad and the Apostille was not affixed, you need to endorse the document with Apostille in the issuing country. If you have any question, contact our Manager. We are always ready to help you.

Legalization

When you need to prepare documents for the countries that have not signed the Hague Convention you will need to go though the process known as "authentication" or "legalization". We will help you with that. The Department of Consular Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine conducts legalization of documents issued by official bodies of Ukraine for use abroad.The Department of Consular Service legalizes the following documents:

  • original public documents issued by Ukrainian authorities and certified by oblast Department of the Ministry of Justice;
  • original educational documents (diplomas, certificates of degree etc.) of international sample shall be legalized if the application letter of the Higher Educational Institution issuing such document is provided. This letter should be certified by the Ministry supervising such Institution;
  • notarized copies, translations and other documents, certified or issued by notaries. These documents should be certified by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.

Upon legalization by the Department of Consular Service, public documents should be certified by diplomatic mission or consular post of the State wherein they will be used.
